On March 8th, 2025, the #8M protest took place, with hundreds of people marching through the streets of downtown Lima. The voices of women and diverse collectives rose in opposition to gender-based violence, inequality, and discrimination. Upon reaching Plaza San Martín, the march was repressed by police forces, who began firing tear gas at the protesters.
